our history
The History of the cast (as best as everyone can remember):
Our cast formed on November 21st, 1992, Interchangeable Parts was made up of people who used to be on other local casts and we were missing about half the character parts and the rest of the parts were grabbed from the audience before the show (hence the cast name). The first cast director's name was Sean. Around February 1994 the theatre was bought out by Carmike, the cast took a break and everyone went on with their own lives for about 6 months
AMC Seminole 8 Theatres in Pinellas County started asking around for a Rocky cast and word got to our director, Jorge and he pulled the cast back together to perform at Seminole in August 1994, the cast changed it's to Interchangeable Parts 2 :The Seminole Vesicles. We had to leave Seminole when they decided to stop their midnight shows, but almost immediately, we were able to move to AMC Crossroads 8 Theatres (now gone) in St. Petersburg as of January 15th, 1997.
Because this move changed our city, we couldn't use the subtitle of "Seminole" anymore, so we changed our subtitle to "Groupies Gone Bad." We were at Crossroads for almost a year before a change in management lost us our theater. We were without a venue for about 3 months before we moved to Regal Pinellas Parkside dollar theatres in November 1997.
In January of 1999, we dropped the subtitle of our cast name and we returned to our original name of "Interchangeable Parts." We stayed at Parkside for 2 and a half years. Sometime around April 2000, orders came down from corporate that Parkside would be closing immediately to be torn down so it can be rebuilt into the 16 theater megaplex that it is today.
Within a week or so, we heard about a cast performing at The Beach Theatre in St. Pete Beach, so we went to see them. They were performing 6 weeks on and 6 weeks off, so we asked if we could perform there during those 6 weeks off. Next thing you know, the Lakeland cast disbanded and we were the only cast at the Beach Theatre as of October 2000. In 2006, we began adding videos to our preshow entertainment. In February 2008, the Beach Theatre was sold to Mike France [RIP], a screenwriter of big movies like "Goldeneye," "The Fantastic Four" and others. We had lots of support from the staff and we began inviting bands to perform before our shows. Sadly, on April 10th, 2013, we heard that Mike France, the owner of the Beach Theatre, passed away
In November 2012, The Beach Theatre closed suddenly, so our last show there was November 10. We then moved to AMC Tri-City 8 as of January 5, 2013, where we set up our first our outdoor dressing room. In October of 2013 Interchangeable Parts graced the stage of Tampa Theater with the lipstick players where we preformed in front of 600+ people. We were at Tri-City for just over a year until the theater lease was up and they didn't want to renew. Our last show there was on January 18, 2014.
On February 1, 2014, we moved to Touchstar Seminole 8, which was our home from 1994-1996, so it was a nice homecoming for the cast. Again in October we were asked to perform at the Tampa Theater. This time Our director, Tor , decided to invite Cheap Little Punks to perform with us. In June of 2014, Seminole 8 would start the wind down process to shut down and would start with Rocky Horror.
In 2015 Interchangeable Parts started performing at Cinema 6 in port richey. We also stared performing all over st. Pete, Including The local 662 and Reno Downtown Joint. In October we performed in front of 1,500+ people at Jannus live in St. Pete.
In 2016 we continued to perform at 662 while adding new venues in Pinellas county, like Sunset point Cinema Bar & Grille. We continue to receive invitations to perform at all sorts of venues, Including Canoe outpost-Little Manatee River.
